Cato is seeking individuals who are interested in a career in Merchandising to join our Assistant Buyer Training Program. As an Assistant Buyer, you will be trained to identify emerging fashion and color trends and to customize popular styles to Cato’s standards for quality, fit and price. Cato encourages associate’s career growth, and we have a training and development program in place for you to succeed. Upon successful completion of the required training, you will be promoted to Assistant Buyer Level II and you will receive a salary increase. Most associates are able to complete this training in 6 to 12 months. When you successfully complete the next level of training you will be promoted to Assistant Buyer Level III and you will receive another salary increase. Again, most associates are able to complete this level of training in 6 to 12 months. This training is an investment by the company in you and your future. Qualified candidates will possess retail experience, excellent organizational skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to think critically and multitask and proficient PC skills including Microsoft Office. College degree preferred.
